PROCESSING TRAUMA DIFFERENTLY
EMDR & the Four Blinks Protocol
Some experiences get stuck. Not because you're not trying hard enough to move past them, but because trauma doesn't always live in the part of the brain that responds to talking it through. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and the Four Blinks / Predictive Processing Flash Protocol are designed to work with that, helping your brain finish processing what got interrupted, so the memory can settle instead of staying on high alert. I often integrate this work with parts work and somatic approaches, since trauma shows up in the body and in different parts of ourselves, not just in memory
What is EMDR?
EMDR is a structured, evidence-based approach to trauma treatment. Instead of asking you to retell your story in detail over and over, EMDR uses guided eye movements (or similar forms of bilateral stimulation) while you bring a difficult memory to mind. Over time, this helps the memory lose its emotional charge. It becomes something you remember, not something that hijacks you.
EMDR is often used for:
-
Single-incident trauma (accidents, assaults, medical trauma, etc.)
-
Complex or repeated trauma
-
Anxiety and panic that feels tied to past experiences
-
Shame, self-criticism, or harsh internal beliefs that trace back to earlier life events

What is the Four Blinks / Predictive Processing Flash Protocol?
The Four Blinks Protocol (a Flash Technique variant grounded in predictive processing) is a gentler, lower-intensity way to reduce the charge of a difficult memory, often without needing to describe the memory in detail at all. It's especially useful for clients who feel overwhelmed by traditional trauma-processing approaches, or who want meaningful relief without re-living painful material session after session.
This can be a great stand-alone trauma modality, or used alongside EMDR depending on what you need.

What sessions look like?
We'll start by building safety and a shared understanding of what you want to work on. There's no rush to dive into the hardest material first. From there, we move at a pace that works for you, using EMDR or the Four Blinks Protocol to help your nervous system finish what it's been carrying.
All sessions are conducted via telehealth, so you can do this work from a space that already feels safe to you.
Is this right for me?
You don't need a specific diagnosis to benefit from this work. Many clients come to EMDR and the Four Blinks Protocol because they:
-
Feel like they've "done the talking" but still feel stuck
-
Notice their body reacting to things their mind has already let go of
-
Want a structured, paced approach rather than open-ended processing
-
Are looking for trauma care that's also culturally responsive, LGBTQ+ affirming, neurodivergent-affirming, and geek-affirming
Intensives
In addition to standard weekly sessions, I offer intensives, focused half day (4 hour) sessions which will include a separate 90 min intake and 60 min follow-up, for clients who want to make concentrated progress on a specific memory or issue without waiting weeks between sessions.
Intensives can be a good fit if you:
-
Have a specific event or memory you want to target directly
-
Are short on time but want meaningful progress (e.g., before a major life event, deadline, or transition)
-
Have already done some trauma work and want to go deeper on a focused issue
-
Prefer fewer, longer sessions over an extended weekly cadence
Please note: intensives are not covered by insurance and no superbill is provided for reimbursement. Payment is private pay. Reach out to discuss availability.
